Trevor Joyce: Syzygy

This is an astonishing book - a pair of poems, The Drift and The Net, with the latter being constructed from lines in the former, the whole thing a compositional tour-de-force. The author compares the structure to a canon by Machaut, but also explains the form as being an adaptation of the medieval cancrizans. Formally extraordinary, it is even more extraordinary that the whole thing works.
