from Postlude:

FORGETTING EVERYTHING

I

      Or the wearing repetition of
      children – towards  you/or
      for a long time

      the
      crushing
      vividness.

      Or certainly fevered delusion
      but look my health’s been
      bad these weeks

& again yes this reptilian slyness
      for instance in the press
      photos or:

      in itself nothing – but
      or: sliding
      down

      the middle of the well-greased
      chute/or: punctures the
      limits of mere

               steel
                     grey
                     grey
                          sky

      taps the sunlight circles &
      hits the glass arrows
      clicks slaps

& illuminates blues
& golds  & a 1,000
flowers  &

              travels through

      cleats – veins – frets – combine
      & mingle – brittle
      crazie

      cool in here nel duomo
      & for the tourist
      history duo cento lire.

      And then
      she suggested
      this way.

      We won’t do that
      again she said
      one-two

      wobbling finely – the mirror
      tilted – so that
      that

      something lodges
      obdurately (in
      the net)

      tilted – cool in
      here – in
      history.

      Or.

But how can you write about emotion
when you forget everything
the next day.
